Dehydrator; The Review

by Kasia Frawley on 03/26/12

Ok, so I have used the dehydrator a few times now.  So far I really like it!  I dehydrated Pineapple, Kiwi, London Broil and Round Roast.  It is super easy to set up and use, although there's no timer so you kinda need to be present while you do it.  Some reviews said it's not loud,  that is a fib.  It isn't loud compared to a train maybe.  It is noisy.  Is it tolerable?  Absolutely.  It's a heating element and a fan, of course it's going to make noise and you'd be foolish to think it'll be perfectly quiet.  I haven't decided if I will get any add on trays, I don't know if it's really worth it.  With the 4 that come with it I already rotate them to make sure it all gets close to the heat element, additional trays = additional rotations / additional time.  We'll see I guess.  Of the 6 pounds of beef I purchased this weekend I could only dehydrate about 3, the other 3 are still marinating.  I may try and do those tonight in small batches.  I figure I need at a minimum for very thin sliced beef 4 hours of drying time.  I have some apples that are on the verge of gross so I’ll mandolin those up and do them too.  Maybe with some honey and pumpkin pie spice?

So far I am quite happy with my purchase.  Maybe I’ll do some artistic photos of dried beef for you guys tonight!
